Light on Life ~ B.K.S. Iyengar Leaves His Earthly Body

There are those experiences in life that touch us to the core of our BEings, striking a chord of resonance deep within that awaken us to our true nature, the divinity that resides within us all.

We hold reading Indian Guru Yogi B.K.S. Iyengar’s Light on Life book in this frame. Light on Life is the kind of book that reaches deep and implores us to explore broadening our awareness from the core of our inner being, outward.

Yoga is Union

Whether you do yoga (in any form), or not… I’d invite you to read Light on Life. This book is about so much more than what our westernized culture has deemed yoga to be.

The word YOGA, in fact, means: to yoke, union. And that union is about cultivating and nurturing the relationship between You and Infinity (God, Source, Love, Light, Universe…etc.)

When we look at yoga in this frame… We all do yoga, to a certain degree.

In an article posted on the day of Iyengar’s passing from this physical world…

…He continued to practice – “practice is my feast”, he once told a correspondent – in his old age and could still do the sirsasana – or the headstand – for half an hour until last year.

“When I stretch, I stretch in such a way that my awareness moves, and a gate of awareness finally opens,” Mr. Iyengar told the Mint newspaper last year.

“When I still find some parts of my body that I have not found before, I tell myself, yes I am progressing scientifically… I don’t stretch my body as if it is an object. I do yoga from the self towards the body, not the other way around.”
